K’NEX “Quilt Squares”

I sometimes think quilting was an outlet for women who loved math back in the days when it wasn’t proper for a woman to love math. The patterns for quilt squares are wonderful lessons in geometry and symmetry. I have several large boxes of K’NEX pieces in my basement from the days when my now grown-up sons used to play with them. If you have a similar stash, K’NEX can be a great way for you and the kids to create your own patterns or to copy some of the more traditional quilting patterns that are readily available on the web. All of the quilt patterns shown here are adapted from the web site EQuiltBlocks.com.
